The Black Ram 8mber sale threatens nearly 4,000 acres of irreplaceable old-growth forest in Montana's Yaak Valley—a cri8cal habitat for endangered species like grizzly bears, lynx, and wolverines. On February 6th, the Ninth District Court in Portland will hear the case that could determine the forest’s fate. Ahead of this decision, join us on February 4th for a powerful arts rally to show that, in 8mes of need, ar8sts rise as voices for the voiceless, protec8ng wild places that cannot speak for themselves.

Through music, poetry, wri8ng, and film, we’ll demonstrate to our leaders that preserving our natural world is not just a policy debate but a moral impera8ve. Let’s gather to celebrate art’s ability to inspire ac8on and strengthen our community’s resolve to save these forests for genera8ons to come.

Why Should Oregonians Care About a Small Forest in Montana?

Our wild places are interconnected. The fight to stop these bulldozers is about more than one forest—it’s about seUng a precedent for protec8ng old-growth ecosystems everywhere. Oregon faces similar challenges, and by standing together, we show that the preserva8on of wild spaces transcends state lines. What happens in Montana could influence the future of forests here at home. Addi8onally, our Curtain of Green proposal highlights the global importance of protec8ng wild places as a strategy for curbing climate change across the northern hemisphere.
